Two former national team teammates are guests in the studio as Ivan Nielsen and Søren Busk join Frank Arnesen and Søren Lerby for a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about the golden 1980s of Danish soccer.

Together, the four former national team players take us back to the time when the Danish national team, under Sepp Piontek, really began to make its mark on the international soccer scene.

Ivan Nielsen and Søren Busk talk about their journey from Danish club soccer to their adventures abroad at teams such as Feyenoord, Herne, MVV Maastricht, and Monaco. Ivan shares stories from his time in Rotterdam, where he played alongside none other than Johan Cruyff, while Søren recounts the massive culture shock he experienced when he went from training a few times a week in Glostrup to the grueling world of professional soccer in Germany.

But it’s especially the memories from the national team that stand out. How did “Danish Dynamite” come to be? What made the team so special? And what was it really like to be part of a national team with so many offensive stars, where the defenders often had to do the hard work?

The book also looks back at the 1984 European Championship and the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Ivan and Søren talk about the big matches, the team spirit, Sepp Piontek’s unique leadership style, and the disappointing finish against Spain in Mexico. Had the national team actually been trained too hard leading up to that decisive match?

Along the way, there are plenty of stories from the locker rooms and life off the field—from Johan Cruyff’s fondness for Ivan’s cigarettes to the many experiences that have never made the headlines before.

It will be a heartwarming and entertaining reunion among four former teammates who will relive a very special time in Danish soccer history together.

[36

post-1472","podcast","type-podcast","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","season-season-2
