Arnesen & Lerby: Thomas Bo Larsen – A Free Man

Thomas Bo Larsen joins Frank Arnesen, Søren Lerby, and Flemming Toft for a candid conversation about acting, passion, addiction, and life on the other side.

He talks about his school years, which were marked by dyslexia, and about his journey from working as a laborer and a glazier to attending acting school in Odense. At age 11, he discovered drama and imagination—and for the first time found a place where he felt there was something he could do.

The conversation also touches on his long-standing collaboration and friendship with Thomas Vinterberg. From their first short film to *The Celebration*, *The Hunt*, and the Oscar-winning *Drunk*, Thomas Bo Larsen talks about the work that went into his roles, the preparations, and life on a film set.

But his career has also had its downsides. Thomas speaks openly about his years of alcohol and drug abuse, about when his addiction began to take over his daily life, and about his journey toward a life free of substances. Today, he has been sober for 12½ years and uses his own experiences, among other things, to help others.

And even though Thomas comes from the world of film, it quickly becomes clear that it’s not all that different from soccer. Together with Frank, Søren, and Flemming, he talks about passion, preparation, and teamwork—and about the similarities between a director on a film set and a coach on the sidelines.

An episode of Arnesen & Lerby featuring great movie stories, plenty of humor, and a very personal account from Thomas Bo Larsen.
